Bob M. Dearing Natchez State Park is located just 10 miles north of historic Natchez, the oldest settlement on the Mississippi River. This park offers 48,000 acres of serene Mississippi landscapes and is a tranquil retreat for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike. Whether you're seeking a weekend getaway or a day of disc golf, Bob M. Dearing Natchez State Park promises unforgettable experiences for all ages. The park is also home to the largest bass in caught Mississippi, a largemouth weighing in at 18.15 pounds was caught in Natchez Lake in 1992.

From the intersection of Hwy 84 and Hwy 61:

  • Take 61 North for approximately 4 miles to the community of Stanton,
  • Turn RIGHT onto State Park Rd.,
  • Proceed ¼ of a mile to the intersection of State Park & Wickcliff Rd.
  • Turn LEFT onto Wickcliff Rd. 
  • Proceed ¼ of a mile, turn RIGHT.

Things To Do

Bob M. Dearing Natchez State Park offers 48,000 acres of recreational opportunities, including disc golf, picnic areas, playgrounds, serene nature trails, freshwater fishing, and easy access to the water with our convenient boat launch! As of January 2024, MDWFP added fish habitat structures to the lake and installed several bream beds to encourage a natural and flourishing ecosystem for all anglers.

Boat Launch

Natchez Lake is well stocked with catfish, bream, and largemouth bass. The park became a hot spot for bass fishermen when the Mississippi record largemouth (18.15 pounds) was caught in the lake in 1992. A Mississippi fishing license is required for all persons between the ages of 16 and 65. 

*There are complimentary fish cleaning stations located near the boat launches.

Disc Golf

Bob M Dearing Natchez State Park offers a nine-hole amateur disc golf course for guests to enjoy. The use of the course is covered by the $2.00 per person entry fee. 

Nature Trail

Bob M Dearing Natchez State Park's nature trail starts in Campground B., this trail is 3/4 of a mile long and ends on the main entrance road leading to the park. 

Picnic Sites/Pavilions

Four picnic tables with grills are provided in the day-use area near the park office, and two additional picnic tables without grills are available near the boat launch. Picnic tables are first come, first serve and do not require reservations.   

The park offers one picnic pavilion near the main office. It provides electricity, water, and tables and is located just across from a playground in the day-use area. The pavilion is a perfect setting for family reunions, school or business outings, weddings, baby showers, birthday parties, and more.

Playground

The park provides one large playground near the camp office; the use of the playground is covered by the $2.00 per person entry fee. 

Stay The Night

Bob M Dearing State Park offers 50 Developed RV Campsites, 8 Primitive Tent Campsites, 10 newly renovated Lakeside Vacation Cabin units, and a coin-operated Laundry Facility located in the Campground B bathhouse.

Developed Camping

There are 50 RV campsites, each with a picnic table, grill, water, and electrical hookups (50/30/20amp). Sites 1 - 6 are full hookup sites; the remaining sites are for water and electricity only. Campgrounds A and B offer a central sewage dumping station for overnight guests to use. The park also provides bathhouses with hot showers and coin-operated laundry units in the developed camping area. 

 Reservations are highly recommended and can be made up to 13 months in advance. Monthly camping may be available. Please check with the park office for availability (601) 442-2658

Tent Camping

A wooded area near the developed campground features eight sites suitable for tent camping. Tent sites are not numbered and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Picnic tables and bathhouses with hot showers are located near the primitive camping area. 

Vacation Cabins

As of January 2024, Bob M. Dearing Natchez State Park proudly features 10 newly renovated lakeside cabins, each equipped with heating and air-conditioning units, bed and bath linens, and basic kitchen equipment.   Reservations can be made up to 13 months in advance and are highly recommended.
