Explore permanent exhibits including aquariums, wildlife habitats, fossils, and Mississippi's endangered species.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Displays of Mississippi's diverse habitats including a spectacular exhibit of white-tailed deer
  • An entire wall of fossil specimens, Zygorhiza, Mosasaurus, and a giant Sloth
  • A 100,000-gallon aquarium network housing over 200 living species
  • "The Swamp": a 1,700-square foot greenhouse
  • “Bird Flight”: a stunning, permanent exhibit created in memory of B.E. Gandy, Museum Director/Curator from 1958–1987. Learn how birds fly, measure your wingspan, and see a murmuration, in this fascinating exhibit.
  • The hands-on Preschool Discovery Room features colorful murals and an iconic, giant tree house with a slide! Children ages 3 through pre-kindergarten 5 can climb a tree, play with puppets, visit animal habitats, and listen to wonderful stories.

Outdoor Features

Experience 2.5 miles of trails offering you opportunities for nature walks, photography, and the study of living things in their environment.

Travel back in time on the Dinosaur Trail. The Dinosaur Trail features six large-scale, 3D dinosaur models, including a Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus Rex.

The Playground is part of the LeFleur's Bluff Complex

The LBC is located on the shared campus between MDWFP's MS Museum of Natural Science and the MS Children's Museum and includes the Playground, Spotter's Adventure Trail, Spotter's Snack Shack, and The Den and Regal's Landing rental areas.

Temporary Exhibits

Our 2,500-square-foot temporary exhibit area allows the Museum to showcase special exhibits throughout the year. These exciting and unique displays are made possible through the generous support of donors, sponsors, and the Museum Foundation.
