| Bass | The bass bite could be called fair to good. Most bass continue to bite on spinnerbaits and Texas-rigged plastics in the backs of the sloughs, with black buzzbaits and frogs producing some early topwater bites. Shallow pockets with grass on the west side of the channel have been good areas. If the shad are spawning in the area, the first hour or two of daylight can yield some good topwater action. | |
| Crappie | The crappie bite has slowed down recently. Jigs and minnows are your best bets. | |
| Catfish | The catfish bite is starting to pick up with the rising water temperature. Nightcrawlers and cutbait fished along the bottom have been best baits. Most anglers are using trotlines or jugs, but a few anglers are starting to target catfish with rod-n-reel combos. The mouth of the old Tombigbee River is a popular area. |
